Job summary

Oglethorpe University seeks a Director of Advancement to bridge gift processing, data management, and donor engagement. You will oversee gift processing, reconcile data, manage reporting, and support events within a collaborative Advancement team.

In this role, you will use Raiser's Edge and related tools to produce insights, manage prospect portfolios, and coordinate cross-department data exchanges. A bachelor's degree and 5 years of advancement experience are required, with a hybrid work

• Minimum 5 years of advancement experience with proven success.
• Proficiency with Raiser’s Edge (or a similar donor CRM).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Bachelor's degree or higher.
• Ability to manage projects and collaborate cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

• Gift Processing & Reconciliation: ensure timely, accurate gift processing and acknowledgements; support monthly reconciliations.
• Data Management & Services: use Raiser's Edge for queries, exports, dashboards, and reports; support data clean-up and imports.
• Data Analysis and Prospect Management: analyze donor data and identify strong prospects to improve portfolios.
• Other Expectations: track projects, support events, participate in trainings and meetings, and assist Advancement colleagues as needed.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Advancement Operations, the Director of Advancement serves as a bridge between key functions in Oglethorpe University’s Advancement system. The position bridges advancement operations, data management and services, and annual donor engagement and fundraising activities to positively contribute to the overall success of the University Advancement team.PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIESThe Director of Advancement is responsible for the following key functions:1. Gift Processing & ReconciliationEnsures that daily gift processing and gift acknowledgement processes are completed in a timely and accurate fashionPerforms gift processing and gift review as neededSupports the Advancement Operations Manager in monthly gift reconciliation processes2. Data Management & ServicesUses the Raiser’s Edge database to create queries, exports, dashboards, and reportsUses Raiser’s Edge to fulfill complex data requests from Advancement colleaguesProduces weekly and on-demand financial fundraising reports for Advancement stakeholdersProvides data set-up and support for Advancement events and fundraising appealsManages and supports the completion of annual and periodic data clean-up projectsManages and supports the completion of annual and periodic data imports and updatesCollaborates cross-functionally with campus partners to facilitate data sharing, ensure data integrity, and reconcile records across institutional systems3. Data Analysis and Prospect ManagementUses Raiser’s Edge tools and features to conduct donor analysis, comparative giving analysis, fundraising performance analysis, and more for the purpose of generating actionable insightsUses Raiser’s Edge Prospect Insight tools to identify strong prospects, build prospect lists, and improve the portfolios of frontline fundraisersOther ExpectationsUses technology to track and manage projects and tasksConsistently meets project and task deadlinesProvides task support to Operations and other Advancement colleagues as neededProvides event support for Advancement events (including weekend and evening events)Actively participates in Advancement and institutional staff meetings, trainings, and conveningsPerforms other related duties as assigned to support the needs and objectives of AdvancementREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSThe Director of Advancement must meet the three qualifications below to be considered for the position:Proficiency using Raiser’s Edge (or a similar donor CRM)Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and WordA minimum of 5 years of Advancement experience with proven success*Applicants without Raiser’s Edge or similar donor CRM experience should not apply.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONSA strong candidate for the Director of Development position will have the following qualifications:A bachelor’s degree or higher from a nationally accredited universityProficiency using project management tools, preferably Asana and Microsoft TeamsAnalytical thinking skills; strong organizational skills; efficient task management; and excellent customer service and interpersonal skillsCollaborative and supportive team mindsetBENEFITSAffordable health, dental, and vision insuranceEmployer-matched retirement planGenerous paid time off (PTO), including vacation, sick leave, and paid holidaysHybrid work opportunities
