Job summary

Prudential is seeking a Director, Actuary Group Disability to lead analysis of disability experience and inform pricing decisions. The role focuses on developing pricing methodologies, analytical tools, and actionable insights for profitability.

You will partner with underwriting, product, and finance teams, communicate complex actuarial concepts to diverse audiences, and drive data‑driven decisions in a hybrid/remote work setup. A strong SOA designation and 7+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field.
  • 7+ years of actuarial experience.
  • SOA Associate or Fellow designation.
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Experience analyzing disability insurance experience data and translating findings into actionable business insight.
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, R, Python, Power BI.

Responsibilities

  • Lead analysis of disability experience trends to identify key drivers and business implications.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance pricing methodologies, models, and analytical tools.
  • Partner with cross‑functional stakeholders to connect findings to business actions.
  • Provide recommendations supported by actuarial analysis and clear rationale.
  • Monitor results and explain drivers of financials through ongoing analysis and reporting.
  • Serve as a technical resource supporting underwriting, product teams and operations.

This role will have ownership for analyzing disability claim experience, developing insights that directly inform pricing decisions, and advancing analytical approaches to better understand emerging trends and drivers of results. This position requires strong actuarial judgment, collaborative technical work, data-driven storytelling, and analytical leadership to answer complex business problems.The current employee work arrangement for this position is hybrid or virtual and may require your on-site presence on a reoccurring basis as determined by your business, dependent on the candidate's location. Your manager will provide additional details relative to the specific number of days you are expected to be on-site.What you can expect:Lead analysis of disability experience trends to identify key drivers, emerging patterns, and business implications, with a focus on recommended pricing decisions.Develop, maintain, and enhance pricing methodologies, models, and analytical tools used to evaluate disability experience, with a focus on process improvement and efficiency.Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to connect findings to business actions and strategic priorities.Provide thoughtful recommendations supported by sound actuarial analysis and clear rationale.Monitor results and explain drivers of financials through ongoing analysis and reporting, collaborating with other finance professionals.Serve as a technical resource and subject matter expert, supporting other areas like underwriting, product teams and operations.What you’ll need:Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.7+ years of actuarial experience.Associate or Fellow of the Society of Actuaries designation.Strong analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.Experience analyzing disability insurance experience data and translating findings into actionable business insight.Experience working independently and managing multiple priorities.Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex actuarial concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.It’d be a plus if you had:Experience with predictive analytics, statistical modeling, or other advanced analytical methods.Proficiency in tools such as Excel, SQL, R, Python, Power BI, or other relevant actuarial and analytical tools.Experience presenting findings and recommendations to senior leaders.Prudential welcomes all applicants, even if you don't meet every requirement. The salary range for this role is from $158,800.00 to $238,200.00.
