Job description

The Director, Actuarial Services will apply a rigorous analytical approach to value-based care contracts, focusing on evaluating, managing, and forecasting risk within Aledade’s Medicare Advantage, Commercial, and Medicaid contracts. This person will develop actuarial models to assess potential financial impacts under various performance scenarios, which will inform reporting, disclosure processes, and risk mitigation efforts across Aledade.

This role supports and reports to the Chief Actuary in developing mature actuarial and economic frameworks for evaluating value-based care contracts and translating strategic targets into risk decision architectures across multiple lines of business. The role also involves close collaboration with Aledade’s internal Finance and Performance teams.

We are flexible regarding geographic location; the ideal candidate will be comfortable working remotely within the United States.

Primary Duties:
  1. Develop and maintain an actuarial/economic framework for evaluating risk in value-based care contracts across MA, Commercial, and Medicaid.
  2. Identify risks exceeding thresholds and develop mitigation recommendations.
  3. Collaborate cross-functionally and perform analyses to support other Aledade teams.
Minimum Qualifications:
  1. 12+ years in healthcare with health plans, provider groups, or consulting firms within value-based care, and 8+ years performing healthcare actuarial analyses.
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Actuarial Sciences, Statistics, Math, or a related quantitative field.
  3. Fellow (FSA) or Associate (ASA) of the Society of Actuaries.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  1. Advanced degrees in related fields (Master’s preferred).
  2. Strong data manipulation skills, including Excel, SQL, and basic Python, R, or similar.
  3. Experience with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  4. Knowledge of healthcare utilization, spending, quality measures, risk adjustment, and provider profiling.
  5. Ability to communicate actuarial concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
  6. Proven ability to lead complex projects independently.
  7. Experience with MA mechanisms, industry structure, and projections related to premiums, costs, and MLR.
  8. Experience managing teams and working in fast-changing healthcare environments.
  9. Passion for transitioning to value-based care and supporting independent primary care.
