Job summary

Genentech is seeking a Director to lead Access and Contracting capabilities, owning the product vision, strategy, and end-to-end lifecycle for CLM and RL. You will build and mentor a team of product managers, work with senior leadership, and drive value through SAFe practices while ensuring compliance with evolving regulations.

You will partner with PAA and CMG to maximize patient access, manage budgets, and prioritize initiatives that align with corporate objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with 10+ years of leadership in market access or related product domains.
  • Deep expertise in Market Access contracting across payers, PBMs, specialty distributors, provider groups, and 340B entities.
  • Strong Lean-Agile mindset with proven success leading product management practices and budgets.
  • Executive presence and enterprise mindset to navigate matrixed organizations and break down silos.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end lifecycle for Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Revenue Leakage (RL).
  • Lead, mentor, and develop agile product managers and leads with servant leadership.
  • Partner with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to align roadmaps with business strategy and drive adoption.
  • Serve as SME on PAA technology and contracting processes across the organization.
  • Manage portfolio prioritization, budget allocation, total cost of ownership, and vendor negotiations.
  • Ensure system stability, quality, and compliance with evolving market access regulations and governance.

The Opportunity

As a Director on the Access and Contracting Foundational Capabilities Team within Activation and Capabilities Enablement, you will own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end product lifecycle for business-critical contracting capabilities. In this role, you will lead and empower a team of product managers and leads, driving product discovery, delivery, and execution using Scaled Agile (SAFe) practices. ou will partner closely with user teams and senior leadership across Public Affairs & Access (PAA) to build new technologies and tools that maximize patient access through nimbly executed, profitable contracts.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, and end-to-end lifecycle for the Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) and Revenue Leakage (RL) product areas (note while CLM and RL will be the initital focus, product areas are subject to change based on demands of business)Build, lead, and mentor a team of agile product managers and leads, embodying servant leadership (VACC) principles and a player/coach mindset.
  • Partner heavily with senior leadership and diverse user teams across PAA and Genentech Commercial Organization (CMG) to align product roadmaps with business strategy, ensuring continuous value delivery and user adoption.
  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on PAA technology and contracting processes, collaborating with Process Enablement Leads to share this knowledge and capability across the organization.
  • Manage portfolio prioritization, budget allocation, total cost of ownership, and vendor negotiations in partnership with enterprise technology teams.
  • Ensure system stability, quality, and strict compliance with evolving market access regulations and corporate governance standards.
Who you are
  • You hold a Bachelor’s Degree with 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in market access and related product-centric domains.
  • You possess deep expertise in Market Access contracting strategy and execution across Payers, PBMs, Specialty Distributors, Provider GPOs, 340B entities, and Specialty Pharmacies.
  • You exhibit a strong Lean-Agile mindset with proven success leading product management practices and managing product teams/budgets.
  • You demonstrate executive presence, strong business acumen, and an enterprise mindset capable of navigating matrixed organizations and breaking down silos.
  • You have a solid understanding of Managed Care, Organized Health Systems, and the evolving healthcare policy landscape.
Preferred
  • Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or PhD).
  • Background in software technology and Agile product development methodologies (e.g., SAFe).
  • Strong passion for innovation and demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, platforms, and solutions that advance patient access.
Location
  • This role is based in South San Francisco and offers a hybrid schedule working 3 day per week on campus

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, California is $158,700/yr to $294,700/yr. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
