Job summary

Sally Beauty Holdings seeks a Director of Accounts Payable to lead centralized AP across USA and Canada. The role directs the AP and T&E teams, shaping policies, controls, and systems to handle growing volume and regulatory changes.

The position requires a Bachelor’s in Accounting/Finance and 10+ years of leadership in AP, preferably in multi-location retail, with strong MS Office skills and experience with AP/T&E software. Hybrid work from DFW area with remote options is available.

• 10 years’ prior related experience, preferably with a multi-location, retail operation.
• 10+ years leading and developing diverse teams.
• Experience with accounts payable systems, T&E systems, and processes.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Product.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Accounts Payable and T&E team to provide accurate and timely processing of disbursements of obligations to vendors and employees.
• Oversee the hiring, training, assigning, counseling, disciplining, terminating, and directing of staff and perform annual merit reviews.
• Interact with upper management and external customers to integrate solutions that meet financial and operational goals.
• Establish, enforce, monitor, and update internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect assets and ensure compliance.
• Plan and design Accounts Payable to accommodate new volume, changes in technology, and regulatory compliance.
• Improve AP procedures, processes, and staff productivity by monitoring metrics and benchmarking against best practices.
• Maintain integrity of AP vendor master files and controls around vendor setup and maintenance.
• Oversee 1099 vendor identification and reporting as required by IRS.
• Collaborate with Finance to support accurate financial reporting, tax preparation, and monthly statements.

Essential Function

Responsible for the direction and results of the corporate centralized Accounts Payable functions of the Sally Beauty Holdings USA and Canada operations. Responsible for ongoing planning and design of the Accounts Payable function to accommodate new volume, changes in technology, and compliance matters.

Primary Duties

• 50%Direct the Accounts Payable and T&E team to provide accurate and timely processing of disbursements of obligations to vendors and employees.
• 10%Oversee the hiring, training, assigning, counseling, disciplining, terminating, and directing of staff and perform annual merit reviews in a timely manner.
• 10%Interact with upper management and external customers on a regular basis as well as other internal customers to integrate solutions that meet the company’s goals both financially and operationally.
• 5%Establish, enforce, monitor, and update the internal controls, policies, and procedures to protect the assets of the company, comply with regulatory requirements, and meet demands of the growth of the business as needed.
• 5%Responsible for planning and design of Accounts Payable to accommodate new volume, changes in technology, and compliance matters.
• 5%Improve AP procedures, processes, and staff productivity by monitoring department metrics against published benchmarks and assessment against AP best practices.
• 5%Responsible for the integrity of the Accounts Payable vendor master files, including proper controls around new vendor setup and maintenance.
• 5%Oversee the proper identification of 1099 vendors and accurate and timely reporting as required by the IRS.
• 5%Collaborate with other Finance Team members to maintain workflow, documentation, and systems to support accurate financial reporting, including tax preparation and monthly financial statements.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 10 years’ prior related experience, preferably with a multi‑location, retail operation.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions typical of such places as offices, meeting and training rooms, retail stores, and residences or commercial vehicles, e.g., use of safe work practices with office equipment, avoidance of trips and falls, observance of fire regulations and traffic signals, etc. The work area is adequately lighted, heated, and ventilated. The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, files, books, small parts; using a keyboard, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
