Job summary

UC Irvine is seeking a Director of Academic Programs & Program Innovation within the Division of Continuing Education to oversee public education programs, lead program managers, and ensure learner-centered outcomes aligned with workforce needs. The role partners with associations and accreditation bodies to drive program development and governance.

The position focuses on domestic open enrollment courses, instructional design quality, and collaboration across campus and external partners to

Qualifications

• Ability to maintain effective professional relationships with clients and instructors.
• Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• Effective leadership skills, including directing and developing staff members
• Knowledge of program development, curriculum development and online pedagogies
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, LMS Canvas, SIS and educational learning tools
• Knowledge of budget, project management, and curriculum design
• Knowledge of credit and non-credit programs and certificates
• Knowledge of program ideation, design, format, development, redevelopment, and launch that aligns with workforce needs
• Ability to interpret workforce data, conduct market research, and program assessments
• Experience working with professional associations, accreditation, as well as for-profit and non-profit organizations

Responsibilities

• Oversee domestic open enrollment programs and course delivery.
• Lead program managers and ensure curriculum quality and industry alignment.
• Collaborate across teams and maintain relationships with internal and external partners.
• Support strategic initiatives and governance processes for program development.
