Job summary

Northrop Grumman Space Systems in Utah is seeking a senior engineering leader to drive system integration and test for a high-profile DoD program. You will coordinate across IPTs, ensure compliant engineering processes, and manage technical performance parameters.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in STEM with 10+ years of progressive engineering experience, active Secret clearance, and experience leading teams. The standard 9/80 schedule, relocation support, and comprehensive benefits are included.

Responsibilities

  • Execute priorities of the SDS Office of the Chief Engineer with a focus on system-level Integration & Test.
  • Ensure engineering processes are followed in development, verification, production and sustainment, with adherence to policies and standards.
  • Maintain an achievable technical baseline balancing performance, cost, and schedule, emphasizing KPIs and TPMs.
  • Support PMT meetings and governance boards (TRB, WSWG, CCB, PMR, ROMB).
  • Collaborate across teams to resolve disconnects and ensure design meets system performance.
  • Engage in strategic SDS Sector initiatives on tools, processes and cross-program reviews.

What You Will Get To Do
  • Execute the priorities of the SDS Office of the Chief Engineer with a focus on system level Integration & Test
  • Ensure the program is adhering to sound engineering processes in the development, verification, production and sustainment of products for our customers and ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards.
  • Ensure an achievable technical baseline that provides technical performance balanced with cost and schedule. Particular focus is given to Key Performance Parameters and Technical Performance Measures.
  • Support Program Management Team (PMT) meetings, including but not limited to: Technical Review Board (TRB), Weapons System Working Group (WSWG), Configuration Control Board (CCB), Program Management Review (PMR), Risk & Opportunity Management Board (ROMB).
  • Work horizontally to resolve disconnects across teams to ensure design decisions meet system performance.
  • Support strategic SDS Sector initiatives on tools, processes, and cross-program technical reviews.
  • Champion long-term strategic technical objectives within Sentinel and at the SDS division level.
  • Support strategically valuable technical interchange meetings with Sentinel partners.
  • Support hardware and deliverable-focused deep dives for Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) across SDS
  • Identify opportunities for and support of engagement activities across all IPTs.
  • Identify and mentor high potential technical leaders.

This position’s standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.

You Will Bring These Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) with at least 10 years of progressive engineering experience.
  • Experience formally leading engineering teams and/or organizations
  • Demonstrated performance executing integration (make it work) and test (prove it) on an engineering development program.
  • Demonstrated experience with agile software/hardware integration
  • Experience in incremental verification of capabilities including integration and testing of initial and follow-on verification and fielding events
  • Experience addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for an engineering development project or systems integration project.
  • Advanced knowledge within a single engineering discipline and experience across disciplines.
  • Experience with complex engineering tools and processes (engineering standards, configuration management, material review board, process control, tooling, facilities, software, etc.)
  • Active DoD Secret clearance, investigation must have been completed within last 5 years
These Qualifications Are Strongly Preferred
  • 16 years of STEM-focused experience
  • Demonstrated ability to identify a complex problem, clearly communicate the problem statement and develop actionable solutions.
  • Complex system of systems integration and test experience
  • Experience across the development lifecycle from concept through verification, production and fielding
  • Experience in managing customer and/or supplier relationships
  • Prior experience interfacing with USAF leadership personnel
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance
  • Strong sense of urgency and work ethic in ensuring engineering meets customer and program expectations in a timely and efficient manner

Primary Level Salary Range: $193,800.00 - $290,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
