Job summary

Glass Roots Construction, LLC in Reno, NV is seeking a skilled Directional Drill Operator to join our growing ground‑level team. You will operate directional drilling equipment and related heavy machinery, contribute to boring schedules, and uphold safety and site setup standards.

Requirements include 1 year in directional drill operation, CDL A, and a valid driver’s license. Falcon F5 experience is preferred and overtime or on‑call work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Operate drill equipment on construction sites (Directional Drill, Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, etc.).
• Develop and maintain a boring schedule.
• Set up job site safety perimeters and conduct site cleanup.
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment; assist with field safety analyses (JSA).
• Work overtime, weekends, or be on-call as needed.

Glass Roots Construction (GRC) is a brand-new team but was founded by a team of well‑funded career telecom and construction professionals. We look to leverage the latest technologies, best in industry equipment, and up‑to‑date construction and safety practices to build a first‑class fiber optic utility construction firm in multiple markets throughout the US.

We need skilled Directional Drill Operators who are local to the Reno area. This position will report to the Market Manager and represents an opportunity to join an awesome team on the ground floor, learn a lot, and have a ton of fun as GRC grows!

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

• Position consists of general heavy equipment operation for construction
• Drilling equipment operators can operate a variety of equipment, used in installation/repair/maintenance activities associated with underground construction or utilities, in a safe and effective manner
• Safely operates drill equipment on the job site which may include but is not limited to the following: Directional Drill, Backhoe/Excavator, Skid Steer, Tractor Trailer (Moving Equipment / Haul Water), Vacuum Truck/Trailer
• Restores and/or landscapes disturbed areas of the job site
• Will develop and maintain a boring schedule
• Responsible for the site set‑up and clean‑up
• Load and unload tools, materials, and equipment on the truck
• Will be involved in new site Job Safety Analysis - JSA prior to starting construction
• Setting up safety perimeter using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flagging traffic
• May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies or be on‑call as work is needed to ensure work is completed
• Ability to follow instructions

Experience:

• Directional Drill Operating: 1 year (Required)
• Falcon F5 experience preferred

License/Certification:

• CDL A (REQUIRED)
