Job summary

MasTec Communications Group is seeking a Directional Drill Operator/Locator to join our team in Tampa, FL. You will support directional drilling for underground conduit and fiber optic cable, deliver high-quality work and uphold safety standards in every project.

The role requires at least 2 years of urban directional drilling experience, missile bore familiarity, and the ability to read maps and diagrams. CDL with a clean driving record is required; you’ll be home daily and eligible for

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of utility directional drilling in an urban environment.
• Missile bore experience.
• Ability to read maps, drawings, and diagrams for project builds.
• Valid CDL and eligible for a DOT medical card; clean driving record.
• Valid driver's license with ability to obtain DOT med card.

Responsibilities

• Locate a Horizontal Directional Driller for the installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable
• Operate a horizontal directional bore in collaboration with the Drill Locator to successfully install coax and fiber systems
• Ensure the safety of the public and other underground utility facilities
• Read utility locates and coordinate the daylighting of these facilities
• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site each day

Responsibilities

As a Directional Drill Operator/Locator, you will support directional drilling for the installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable. You believe in doing the job right. Being the best. And you’re up for the challenge.

In addition, you will:

• Locate a Horizontal Directional Driller for the installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable


• Operate a horizontal directional bore in collaboration with the Drill Locator to successfully install coax and fiber systems


• Ensure the safety of the public and other underground utility facilities


• Read utility locates and coordinate the daylighting of these facilities


• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site each day

Qualifications

• You have at least 2 years of utility directional drilling experience in an urban environment


• You have missile bore experience.


• You have experience with different-sized Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills


• You have the ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process


• You have a valid driver's license and the ability to obtain a DOT med card for driving purposes


• Must have a valid CDL; applicants are subject to an MVR review, and must meet company standards for a safe driving record)

Compensation of $28-$32 per hour.
