Job summary

National OnDemand, Inc. is seeking a field technician to operate directional drills and install UG plant facilities across project sites.

You will set up equipment, perform potholing, read network prints, and ensure safety standards are met in outdoor environments. Requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, plus technical training or relevant experience, construction background preferred, and the ability to travel.

Qualifications

• Previous experience operating directional drills required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or relevant experience preferred.
• Previous construction experience preferred.
• Must meet physical requirements and be able to work in all weather.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
• Valid driver's license and authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass drug, background, DOT, and MVR screenings.

Responsibilities

• Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, and install UG plant facilities.
• Set up job equipment and reel trailers proficiently.
• Perform utility exposes and read network prints.
• Locate utilities and maintain clearances; install fiber cables in conduits.
• Transport, handle, and place conduits and fiber reels.
• Adhere to OSHA safety requirements and travel to project sites as needed.

Primary Position Duties:

• Operate directional drills, mini-excavators, and other equipment to install UG plant facilities.
• Set up job equipment and reel trailers proficiently.
• Perform utility exposes (potholing) and understand the utility locate process.
• Locate other utilities as needed and maintain clearances from other utilities, ground, road, highway, sidewalk, and non-pedestrian areas.
• Transport, handle, and place conduits (rolled and stick) in a proper manner.
• Properly transport and install fiber reels.
• Install fiber cables in conduits following correct procedures.
• Set and secure pedestals and vaults accurately.
• Read and interpret network prints.
• Adhere to OSHA safety requirements to ensure safe and efficient completion of the job(s).
• Maintain regular phone communication throughout the workday.
• Follow directions provided by the crew leader.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

• The employee will primarily work in the field.
• The job requires working outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Exposure to dust, fluctuating temperatures, and periodic high noise levels may occur.

Travel:

• Travel to other project sites in different states may be required to assist with new project start-ups.
• Travel may be for up to a 14-day period.

Education or Skills:

• Previous experience operating directional drills is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Combination of technical training and/or relevant experience.
• Previous experience in a construction environment is preferred.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position.
• Flexibility to work nights and weekends, if necessary.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Valid driver's license.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must pass drug, background, Department of Transportation (DOT), and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) screenings.
