Job summary

Lambert's Cable in Durham, NC is seeking a Telecom Directional Drill Operator to install underground telecommunications cables and infrastructure. The role focuses on operating drill equipment safely to complete assigned tasks in varying weather conditions.

You will determine bore paths, verify utilities, maintain a bore schedule, and handle site setup, equipment maintenance, and travel up to 50% as needed. This is an hourly position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company.
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
• Valid state driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Valid Class A Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement REQUIRED.
• Experience with drilling equipment and bore path setup.

Responsibilities

• Determine bore path and locate utilities.
• Safely operate and control all necessary equipment to complete assigned tasks.
• Verify existing utilities by potholing to determine bore path.
• Develop and maintain a bore schedule.
• Responsible for site set-up, clean-up, and equipment maintenance.
• Perform work in all weather conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older

• Valid Class A Commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement REQUIRED
• Experience with drilling equipment, including their capabilities, limitations, and drill setup and design processes

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work with arms above shoulder level, in confined space and remote locations, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder, keyboard and mouse
