We need an enthusiastic Director to lead an independent documentary feature in New Orleans. This project explores the vibrant, often unseen, community efforts around cultural preservation and adaptation in the face of climate change in Louisiana's coastal areas. We're looking for someone with a fresh perspective, a keen eye for compelling human stories, and the ability to draw out authentic moments from our subjects. This isn't just about recording events; it's about crafting a narrative that resonates deeply. Your primary responsibility will be to guide the creative vision, working closely with the Cinematographer to shape the visual storytelling. You'll conduct interviews, direct verité scenes, and ensure the tone remains respectful, hopeful, and impactful. While this is an entry-level position, you should have experience directing short-form documentary or narrative content, and a strong understanding of documentary ethics. Please submit a reel demonstrating your directing style. Personal gear isn't required; we will provide necessary camera and sound packages. Shoot dates are anticipated to be 10-15 days spread across early December 2026, with some additional pre-production prep work in November. We expect 8-10 hour days on set. We'll provide craft services and transportation during shoot days. Compensation is $150-300 per day, dependent on experience.
