Position
Direct Support Worker, Part Time – Detention Unit (Shift: 3:00 pm-11:00 pm). The position requires a minimum of two shifts including Friday-Sunday pm shift and must be available every other weekend.

Responsibilities
- Supervise clients during daily activities, ensuring safety and security.
- Maintain regular communication with supervisors and co-workers.
- Provide facility security: conduct headcounts, room checks, and observe client movement.
- Observe client behavior and intervene appropriately.
- Process intakes and screen clients according to program policy.
- Respond to emergency situations, including evacuation, CPR, and first aid.
- Facilitate and document groups or meetings; monitor documentation processes.
- Provide structured behavioral interventions to reduce maladaptive behaviors and increase positive skills.
- Maintain a safe, therapeutic, and structured environment at all times.
- Use trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate, and culturally responsive approaches.
- Accurately observe and document client behaviors, progress, and interventions.
- Collect and document behavioral data per program and regulatory standards.
- Participate in daily staffing ratio and effective programming for all youth.
- Complete daily notes, incident reports, and other required documentation on time.
- Utilize approved crisis prevention and de-escalation techniques.
- Follow all safety protocols related to self-harm, aggression, and behavioral escalation.
- Report safety concerns, incidents, or changes in client status immediately to supervisory staff.
- Participate in treatment team meetings, supervision, and required training.
- Support family engagement as directed by the treatment team.
- Maintain client confidentiality and comply with HIPAA and agency policies.
- Follow all Pennsylvania mandated reporter requirements.
- Maintain active certifications, clearances, and required ongoing training.
- Comply with program/facility safety systems and building security.
- Adhere to departmental policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support the Abraxas philosophy and mission and promote the Seven Key Principles of care.
- Demonstrate appropriate use of Safe Crisis Management techniques and skills.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or 60 credit hours from an accredited college or university.
Other Qualifications
- 21 years of age or older.
- Valid driver's license.
- Physical exam including TB and drug testing.
- Federal and state background checks, including crime screening.
- Completion of background screening and pre-employment checks (employment references, driving records).
- Ability to use computers and relevant software.
Schedule
Shift: 2nd Shift (3:00 pm-11:00 pm). Minimum of two shifts, Friday-Sunday (16-hour minimum per weekend). Must be able to work every other weekend.
