Job summary

Lanakila Pacific seeks a Direct Support Worker II to provide direct instruction, care, and individualized training in the TLC Bachelot program. You will implement daily activities to promote skill development, independence, and community involvement in alignment with DOH waiver standards.

The role requires working with participants who have ID/DD or are elderly, delivering curriculum, and documenting progress.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma, certificate of completion, or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least one year of documented experience working with individuals with ID/DD or the elderly.
  • Clearances/Certifications: Annual TB clearance
  • First Aid/CPR certification (may be obtained on the job)
  • Criminal background check
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing
  • Other: Valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver curriculum in person or via online platforms (e.g., Zoom).
  • Plan and implement meaningful, age-appropriate, participant-centered activities.
  • Coordinate and lead community-based activities that support participant goals.
  • Assist participants with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including toileting, hygiene, dressing, and eating.
  • Support participants in alignment with their ISPs.
  • Serve in arrival/departure monitoring roles as assigned.
  • Act as a liaison with caregivers and participant support networks.
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain confidentiality of participant information.
  • Utilize Therap Electronic Documentation for recordkeeping.
  • Maintain professional communication with participants, families, staff, and community partners.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitization of program areas, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Identify and remove safety hazards.
  • Respond appropriately to emergencies with professionalism and calmness.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and respect for diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Follow all organizational policies, safety procedures, and work standards.
  • Participate in required training and ongoing professional development.

Direct Support Worker II - Full Time Bachelot

Lanakila Pacific provides a comprehensive range of programs and services that empower individuals with cognitive, physical, social, or age-related challenges to build independence and improve quality of life. Our Disability Services division operates under multiple contracts with the Hawaiʻi State Department of Health, Department of Human Services, Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, and private partners. We collaborate closely with Lanakila Pacific’s social enterprises and Senior Services, with a core focus on employment training and placement.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Teaching and Learning Center (TLC) Instructor II delivers direct instruction, care, and individualized training to participants in the TLC Bachelot program in accordance with Department of Health (DOH) Waiver Standards and Lanakila Pacific’s mission and values. This role plans and implements daily activities that promote skill development, independence, and community engagement. The Instructor II upholds organizational policies and demonstrates Lanakila Pacific’s values of teamwork, excellence, achievement, and motivation.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

WORKING CONDITIONS/HOURS:

  • May require occasional work outside standard hours to meet operational needs.
  • Work occurs in classroom, office, outdoor, and community settings; may include travel to other sites.

EQUIPMENT USE:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, database systems, and videoconferencing platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet).
  • Use of standard office equipment.
  • Operation of company vehicles.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to handle challenging situations and interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills and flexibility in dynamic environments.
