Job summary

The Department of Developmental Disabilities in Ohio seeks a Therapeutic Program Worker to assist residents with daily living skills and promote independence at the Gallipolis Developmental Center. This part-time, permanent role focuses on direct care and daily activities, with varied hours to support residents' goals.

The position emphasizes active treatment activities, documentation, and personal care support within a compassionate team.

Qualifications

• Formal education in arithmetic that includes addition & subtraction and in reading, writing, and speaking common English vocabulary.
• Must possess a high school diploma or a certificate of high school equivalence per Ohio rules.
• STNA certification or Ohio Nurse Aide Registry eligibility may be required for certain roles.

Responsibilities

• Assists with eating, bathing, toileting, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, dressing, grooming, communication, money management, etiquette, and social skills.
• Implements active treatment activities such as gym, pavilion, activity room and pool.
• Assists with planning and shopping activities (e.g., shopping, vocational skills, hair appointments).
• Complete various daily, monthly documentation; including documentation of unusual incidents or medication reactions.
• Perform light housekeeping duties in the living areas.
• Assist with redirecting unsafe actions to bring about positive outcomes.
