Caring Matters in El Paso, TX is hiring a Full-Time ISS Day Program Direct Support Staff (32.50 hours) to support individuals in Day Program activities and promote independence.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals in Day Program activities and promote maximum independence
• Help individuals acquire and improve self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills
• Provide age-appropriate activities to enhance self-esteem and functioning
• Support training activities that promote community integration
• Assist individuals with personal care during day program activities
• Implement treatment plans and objectives as designated (ISPs, training objectives, behavior strategies)
• Assist with medications and nurse-delegated tasks during the day program
• Supervise safety and security during the day program
• Advocate for individuals’ rights
• Encourage positive self-concept through encouragement and reinforcement
• Communicate important treatment information to the coordinator
• Document daily activities and progress toward goals

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

1. Assisting individuals in overall participation in Day Program activities, while promoting the achievement of maximum independence;
2. Assisting individuals in acquiring, retaining, and improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills necessary to function successfully in the community;
3. Providing individuals with age-appropriate activities that enhance self-esteem and maximize functional level;
4. Providing training and support activities that promote the individual’s integration and participation in the community;
5. Providing assistance for the individual who cannot manage his or her personal care needs during day program activities;
6. Implementing all treatment plans as determined and designated by the individual and IDT (i.e., Individual Support Plans, Training Objectives, Behavior Support Strategies, etc.);
7. Assistance with medications and performance of Nurse-delegated tasks during the day program;
8. Supervision of individual’s safety and security during the day program;
9. Advocating for individual rights;
10. Promoting positive self-concept through encouragement and positive reinforcement;
11. Communicating significant factors regarding each individual’s treatment to the person designated to coordinate services for the individual(s);
12. Documenting individual’s daily activities, as well as recording progress or lack of progress pertaining to objectives and goals.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
