Job summary

Housing Advocacy Vocational and Employment (HAVE) in Gaithersburg, MD is seeking a dedicated Direct Support Professional to join our team for a Monday–Friday, 8 AM–4 PM schedule. You will provide daily living support to individuals with disabilities and help them build independence in the community.

You will implement ISPs, assist with personal care, transportation, and documentation, while collaborating with families and the care team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Prior experience in direct support, caregiving, or human services preferred.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, empathetic, and person-centered approach.
• Ability to obtain CPR, First Aid, and Medication Technician certifications (training may be provided).
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and daily living support to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities
• Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, meal preparation, and daily routines
• Implement individualized support plans (ISPs) and document progress accurately
• Facilitate community integration, vocational activities, and social skill development
• Transport and accompany clients to appointments, programs, and community outings
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, families, and care team members
• Respond appropriately to behavioral support needs and crisis situations
