westbayRI is seeking a Direct Support Specialist to assist individuals with IDD in homes and communities around Cranston, Johnston, and Warwick, RI. The role emphasizes independence, decision-making support, and community participation.

New pay rate starts at $24.00/hour with an additional $1.00/hour weekend differential. Full-time schedules are available, with shifts on first and second and potential third-shift coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2–3 years of direct support or similar human services experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Dependable, trustworthy, compassionate and respectful.
• Commitment to supporting individuals with dignity, choice and independence.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support with activities of daily living, including personal care and health maintenance.
• Support individuals in making informed decisions and achieving personal goals.
• Promote independence, self-advocacy, and natural supports.
• Encourage community participation and meaningful relationships.
• Follow individualized care plans and agency procedures, including medication administration when required.
• Monitor and report individuals’ progress and needs.
• Maintain a safe, respectful environment and work with teams and families.
