Job summary

Department for Persons with Disabilities (DPD) is hiring a Direct Support Professional - Program Assistant for 40 hours per week. Regular salary is $23.44 hourly.

The role supports residents in group homes, coordinates activities, meals, medications, and documentation to meet agency and state standards. The position requires 18+, HS diploma (GED acceptable), NJ driver’s license with ≤5 points, and CPR/First Aid readiness.

Qualifications

• One year experience working with persons with developmental disabilities and/or a degree in a related field preferred.
• 18 years of age or older
• High School/GED diploma
• Must have a valid driver’s license in New Jersey with ≤5 points
• Willingness to drive agency vehicles to transport recipients
• Willingness to learn computer programs
• Team-based mindset for residents’ best interest
• Ability to meet CPR/First Aid and emergency procedures requirements

Responsibilities

• Partner with the Program Director to provide quality services to residents and uphold agency philosophy.
• Supervise and train residential counselors with the Director and Associate Director.
• Prepare menus, grocery lists, and shop for food; schedule activities; ensure medications are stocked; coordinate with pharmacy; conduct fire drills; assist with administrative tasks; participate in on-call duties.
• Monitor health issues and clothing needs; ensure home meets agency and governmental standards.
• Maintain written documentation; use computer systems; cooperate with staff during inspections or investigations.
