Job summary

League School for Autism is seeking Direct Support Professionals for our residential program in Walpole, MA. Starting pay ranges from $22.50 to $26.40 per hour, depending on experience and education. Relief staff earn $21.50/hour.

2nd shift is available Sunday–Wednesday or Wednesday–Saturday, 2:30 p.m.–11 p.m., with additional weekend shifts and weekday afternoons/evenings. Qualifications include a HS diploma (Bachelor’s preferred) or current undergraduate study in related fields; CPR/First Aid;

Qualifications

  • HS diploma and preferably a Bachelor’s degree; or be in an undergraduate course of study, preferably special education, education, psychology, human services or social work.
  • Safety Care, CPR and First Aid certifications (training will be provided if you do not have these currently).
  • Prior experience caring for children in a residential setting required; autism experience preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must pass rigorous background checks, including nationwide fingerprint screening.

Responsibilities

  • Assist students in all areas including life skills, community trips, personal health care, social and recreational activities.
  • Support the students by helping to prepare healthy meals and keeping the properties safe and clean.
  • Must have good organization skills and be a creative problem solver.
  • Must be able to document all incidents and communicate effectively with clients, families, co-workers and supervisors.
  • All shifts require that staff be awake and alert at all times.
  • New hires must be available for regularly scheduled weekend work.
  • Work collaboratively with all school staff members to coordinate support for students.
  • Transport students in League School vans as needed.

Education

HS diploma
Bachelor’s degree or current undergraduate study in special education/education/psychology/human services/social work

Job description

League School for Autism is an award-winning, year-round program dedicated to the education of children on the Autism Spectrum. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONALS for our residential program in Walpole. Starting pay rate is $22.50 – $26.40/hour, depending on years of experience and level of education completed. Relief staff earn $21.50/hour. We have an immediate need to fill 2nd shift, Sunday – Wednesday or Wednesday to Saturday (2:30 p.m. – 11 p.m.). Other shifts include: Saturdays and Sundays all shifts, weekday afternoons, evenings.

Position Requirements
  • Must have HS diploma and preferably a Bachelor’s degree; or be in an undergraduate course of study, preferably special education, education, psychology, human services or social work.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
