Job summary

COPAA is seeking a Direct Support Professional in Manassas, VA to provide daily care and support for individuals with IDD. Responsibilities include daily living support, mobility assistance, nutrition, behavior support, and skill development in a group home setting.

Shift coverage includes Monday through Friday with various time slots; weekly compensation is offered and professional growth opportunities are available.

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or its equivalent.
• Willingness and ability to provide direct care and supportive services as needed.
• CPR/First Aid Certification.
• TB Test

Responsibilities

• Provide everyday support to individuals with IDD.
• Assist with daily living activities (bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting).
• Assist with mobility and physical therapy exercises as needed.
• Ensure proper diet and nutrition; assist with feeding if required.
• Follow individualized behavior support plans and use positive reinforcement.
• Assist with development of life skills (cooking, cleaning, budgeting).
• Provide educational and recreational activities for personal growth and independence.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the group home environment.
• Assist with household chores (cooking, laundry, cleaning).
• Maintain accurate records of progress, incidents and changes in condition.
• Advocate for needs and preferences; respect rights and choices.
• Provide emotional support to foster a positive environment.

SUMMARY OF CLIENT'S DESCRIPTION OF THIS OPPORTUNITY

• Provide everyday support to individuals with IDD Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
• Help with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
• Assist with mobility and physical therapy exercises as needed.
• Ensure proper diet and nutrition, and assist with feeding if required.
• Follow individualized behavior support plans to address specific needs and challenges.
• Use positive reinforcement and behavioral techniques to manage and improve behavior.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of life skills, such as cooking, cleaning, and budgeting.
• Provide educational and recreational activities that promote personal growth and independence.
• Ensure the cleanliness and organization of the group home environment.
• Assist with household chores such as cooking, laundry, and cleaning.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of individuals' progress, incidents, and any changes in their condition.
• Advocate for the needs and preferences of individuals, ensuring their rights and choices are respected.
• Provide emotional support and encouragement to foster a positive and supportive environment.

CLIENT'S REQUIRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

CLIENT'S HOURS

• Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pm and 3:00pm-11:00pm
