Job summary

Sycamore Run is hiring a Direct Support Professional for day shift support in a private residential home for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role emphasizes individualized care, safety, and respectful, person-centered support.

You will assist with daily routines, personal care, meals, and community activities, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote dignity and quality of life.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 18 years of age with valid Kentucky or Indiana Driver’s License and a clean driving record.
• One year of caregiving, direct support, healthcare, residential care, or similar human services experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized personal care, daily routines, meals, household activities, appointments, community participation, and leisure activities.
• Observe changes in condition, behavior, preferences, or support needs and communicate to the team.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, feeding, communication, and other care requirements.
• Complete required documentation and participate in meetings, trainings, and care planning.

Schedule: Full-time | Day Shift 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM | 36 hours per week | Fridays, Saturdays, & Sundays

$17.00 per hour & up based on education and experience

Role Overview:

As a day shift DSP at Sycamore Run, you will support daily routines, personal care, household needs, activities, and community involvement in a smaller residential setting. The role requires attentiveness, patience, teamwork, and a commitment to helping individuals participate as fully as possible in home and community life.

What you’ll do:

Support Within a Private Residential Home

• Provide individualized assistance with personal care, daily routines, meals, household activities, appointments, community participation, and leisure activities.
• Observe and communicate changes in condition, behavior, preferences, or support needs to the appropriate team members.

Health, Safety, and Rights

• Support safety, infection control, proper body mechanics, skin integrity, and environmental cleanliness throughout the shift.
• Protect individual rights and promptly report suspected abuse, neglect, exploitation, rights violations, missing belongings, or environmental concerns.
• Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, mobility, feeding, communication, and other needs identified in the individual’s care requirements.

Communication and Team Responsibilities

• Work collaboratively with nurses, supervisors, families, visitors, peers, and interdisciplinary team members.
• Complete required documentation and care records accurately and within expected time frames .
• Participate in meetings, in-service education, planning meetings, annual reviews, and other required training opportunities.
