Job summary

Bristol Adult Resource Center, Inc. (BARC) is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our Residential Group Home Program in Somerset, MA.

The role includes 30 hours weekly of afternoon/evening shifts. Responsibilities include supporting individuals with goals, providing personal care, transporting to activities, administering medications per guidelines, and documenting daily activities while maintaining

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least age 18.
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

Saturday 4 pm–11:30 pm, Wednesday 3 pm–7:30 pm, Thursday & Friday 2:30 pm–11:30 pm (30 hours). Bristol Adult Resource Center (BARC) is a non‑profit organization supporting adult individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing residential, vocational, recreational and day support services. BARC is currently seeking a professional, caring, and motivated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in our Residential Group Home Program. In this position you will make an impactful and meaningful difference in someone else’s life every day. Services include, but are not limited to, assisting individuals, promoting personal growth and goal‑setting, providing personal care, and attending community and social activities. Applicants with no experience or seeking a career change are encouraged to apply – we will train the right candidates.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least age 18.
• Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Provide opportunities for learning new skills and independence by working on individuals’ goals and plans.
• Transport individuals to and from programs and activities.
• Administer medications and treatments, meeting all guidelines and maintaining accurate documentation.
• Provide a safe and nurturing environment where individuals are treated with dignity and respect, can exercise their rights, and are protected from abuse or neglect.
• Electronically record daily activities, maintaining confidentiality and complying with all policies and procedures to protect identity, medical and HIPAA information.
• Obtain and maintain all required certifications and trainings (in person and online).
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Physical Efforts

• May include extended periods of standing, sitting, walking, with occasional periods of stooping, crouching, kneeling.
• Positions may require the ability to independently lift at least 25 pounds, push or pull varying weight (wheelchairs), or safely transfer approximately 35 pounds.
