Job summary

Northeast Michigan Community Mental Health Authority (NeMCMHA) is hiring a Direct Support Professional / SIP Worker in Alpena, MI. You will support individuals with personal care, daily living activities, and community participation, while promoting independence and meaningful daily routines.

Responsibilities include documenting services, assisting with medications where appropriate, and collaborating with a supportive team to ensure safe, person-centered care—18+ and driving requirements apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Knowledge of developmental disabilities desirable; lived experience valued.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and exercise good judgment.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid Michigan driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and reliable transportation.
• Flexible availability for varied schedules.

• Teach skills for maintaining a home, meal planning, shopping, and nutritious cooking.
• Support access to community resources, appointments, and social activities.
