Location: Poughkeepsie, NY

Rate: $17.50-$21.00 (Dependent on experience & house level)

Shift: All shifts available (Day, Night, Overnight, 2 ½ day shift)

Full-time, part-time, and per-diem shifts available

As a DSP, you’ll support adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting - helping them live with dignity, independence, and purpose. This is a hands‑on role where your presence, consistency, and compassion directly impact daily life.

What You’ll Do

You’ll provide day-to-day support that helps people live meaningful, self‑directed lives:

Provide direct, person-centered support

• Assist individuals with daily living activities (personal care, meals, hygiene, mobility)
• Support people in building independence and life skills
• Follow individualized service plans that reflect each person’s goals and preferences
• Encourage choice, voice, and active participation in daily routines

Build connection and community

• Develop positive, respectful relationships with the people you support
• Support participation in community activities, social events, and personal interests
• Promote culturally responsive, person-centered experiences

Support health and safety

• Administer medications (with AMAP certification) and monitor health needs
• Recognize and respond to changes in behavior or medical status
• Maintain a safe, clean, and supportive living environment
• Follow all safety protocols and report incidents as required

Stay organized and accountable

• Complete accurate and timely documentation
• Track daily activities, progress, and outcomes
• Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors
• Follow schedules and program expectations consistently

Education & Experience

• Experience in human services or working with people with disabilities is preferred- but not required

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands‑on role in a residential setting. You’ll need to:

• Provide direct physical support (including personal care, feeding, and mobility assistance)
• Perform SCIP interventions as needed
• Lift, push, or pull 25+ pounds and assist with daily household tasks
• Navigate stairs and participate in routine physical activity
• Drive agency vehicles, including vans
• Work in environments that may include pets
