Job summary

Intandem in New York is seeking a Direct Support Professional to enhance quality of life for individuals with developmental disabilities by assisting, instructing, and supporting residents to be as independent as possible.

You will promote health, safety and well-being, advocate for residents to express wants and needs, and help with meals planning, light housekeeping and medication administration as needed. Regular trainings help you build the skills to support each person effectively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid New York State driver's license that meets the Agency’s driving policy.
• Medication certification may be required.

POSITION SUMMARY

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you get to enhance quality of life for people with developmental disabilities by assisting, instructing, and supporting individuals living in our residences to be as independent as possible. Promote the health, safety and well-being of the individuals while building positive, meaningful relationships. Advocate for individuals in our residences to communicate their wants/needs, and integrate them into the community for recreation. Perform various tasks to promote a well-rounded environment by doing light housekeeping, helping individuals plan nutritious meals, and administering medications as needed. Participate in regularly scheduled trainings to enhance skills and knowledge to continue to support the individuals in the best way possible.

Preferred Education, Training & Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Valid New York State driver’s license that meets the Agency’s driving policy

• Work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays

SALARY

$16 per hour starting rate

Additional earnings available based on shift worked and successful completion of medication certification.
