Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is hiring a Direct Support Professional III in Mexia, TX. This role supports individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities across mornings, evenings, and nights at multiple homes, with options for weekend shifts.

The DSP III provides direct care, medication support, and life-skills training in a team setting. Responsibilities include documenting progress, following treatment plans, and mentoring newer staff.

Qualifications

• High School diploma, GED, or 6 months of work experience.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain it within 90 days.
• Certification in CPR, First Aid, Ukeru, and/or Safe Use of Restraint (SUR) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care and support to individuals.
• Assist with activities of daily living and training programs.
• Document daily progress and incidents for team communication.
• Follow PBSPs, CIP and SAP plans to teach new skills.
• Assist with medication administration and first aid when needed.
• Lead or mentor DSPs and support shift routines as assigned.
