Job summary

City of Virginia Beach is seeking a Part Time Direct Support Professional II to support adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting. You will provide compassionate, person-centered care and help with daily living tasks.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and 2 years experience with ID/DD clients OR related education/experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime availability required.

Responsibilities

• Implement ISP-based supports for adults with ID/DD in residential settings.
• Assist with meals, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Complete documentation and billing accurately and ethically.
• Ensure health, safety, and well-being per ISPs.
• Administer medications as prescribed and assist with appointments.
• Support community integration and transportation as needed.
• Attend mandatory meetings, supervision, and trainings.
• Uphold participant rights and confidentiality; follow incident reporting.

Job Duties and Preferred Qualifications:

As a valued member of our team, you will play a crucial role in enhancing the quality of life for our participants through compassionate care and person-centered support. As a Direct Support Professional II, you will serve adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a residential setting.

Specific Duties:

• Implement Person-Centered Individual Support Plans (ISP)

• Assist with meal preparation, hygiene care, and activities of daily living.

• Complete all required documentation and billing processes accurately and ethically.

• Ensure the health, safety, and well-being of all participants based on their ISPs.

• Administer medications as prescribed and assist with medical appointments.

• Support participants in community integration opportunities and transport them as needed.

• Attend and participate in all mandatory meetings, supervisions, and trainings.

• Uphold participant rights, confidentiality, and follow all incident reporting processes

• Collaborate productively with all internal and external stakeholders.

Work Schedule:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday 2:30p-9p

Minimum Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications: Requires a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience working with Intellectually Disabled and/or Developmentally Disabled (ID/DD) clients OR any combination of education and/or related experience. Must have a current and valid driver’s license. Special Requirements: Must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime when required to meet operational needs. Alpha I Status: Positions within this class have been designated as Alpha I positions requiring employees to work during inclement weather, regardless of the City’s operational status.

VRS Contribution
