Job summary

The Arc Ontario is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join our Residential Team in Canandaigua, NY. You will support individuals with developmental disabilities with daily living activities, personal care, and community outings, fostering growth and safe, supportive home environments.

Responsibilities include hands-on instruction, skill-building, and promoting independence while adhering to individualized plans and safety guidelines within a compassionate agency culture.

Qualifications

• 18 years old
• HS Diploma or GED preferred and one year of relevant experience or an equivalent amount of education/and or experience preferred
• If driving is required, reliable means of transportation, NYS driver’s license and safe driving record for 1 full year prior to hire date
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in written form

Responsibilities

• Provides hands-on assistance, instruction, and training to individuals to develop skills in daily living per an individualized plan of service
• Provides training opportunities to enhance self-sufficiency in independent living
• Promotes agency mission, vision, and values
