Job summary

Barber National Institute is seeking Direct Support Professionals to empower individuals with developmental disabilities. You will support daily living activities, encourage independence, and help build social connections in a compassionate setting.

No prior experience required; comprehensive training is provided. Shifts include 2nd and 3rd, with weekends and holidays, totaling 40 hours per week. A sign-on bonus of $1500 is offered.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Pre-hire Clearances: State Police Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Clearance, FBI Clearance (if you have not lived in PA for the past 2 years).
• Ability to pass Medication Administration and CPR/First Aid Certification

Responsibilities

• Support individuals with daily living needs, such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication management.
• Assist individuals in becoming active in their community through activities, hobbies, and social events.
• Transport individuals to work, appointments, or social gatherings.
• Advocate for individuals' choices and ensure they have a voice in personal care and decisions.
• Celebrate successes and milestones, and provide emotional support when challenges arise.
• Help with housekeeping to maintain a comfortable, welcoming home environment.
• Collaborate with caregivers, families, and medical professionals to provide holistic, person-centered care.
