Job summary

People Inc. (NY) is seeking a part-time Direct Support Professional for respite services in Buffalo, NY. You will support people served with daily living activities, personal care, and community participation in a safe, respectful environment.

Shift is Monday to Friday, late afternoons, 16–29 hours per week. Pay starts at $19/hour, increasing to $20/hour after a 6-month probationary period. Candidates need HS diploma, valid Driver's License, and ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Qualifications

• 18 years of age or older.
• HS Diploma or GED required.
• Valid Driver’s License per policy.
• Ability to multitask and manage several tasks.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend plans and documentation.
• Basic computer skills for communication and documentation.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, and climb.
• Lifting up to 35 lbs.
• Ability to assist with repositioning, lifting, and transferring.
• SCIP-R certification and CPR certification required.
• Part-time staff must work a minimum of 16 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Respect confidentiality and provide a caring attitude toward the person served, families and staff.
• Plan, coordinate, and implement meaningful activities daily.
• Ensure health and safety of each person served.
• Safely transport people following approved procedures.
• Perform daily site cleaning, food preparation, and laundry as needed.
• Assist in social/recreational activities and monthly calendars.
• Complete daily documentation to OPWDD and agency standards.
