Job summary

Help at Home is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes and communities.

You will help individuals build daily living skills, participate in their communities, and work toward personal goals while ensuring safety, independence, and dignity. The position offers flexible scheduling, paid training, health benefits, and mileage reimbursement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Completion of a state-approved training program is required.
• Demonstrated competency and a passing score on the required written competency test is required.

Responsibilities

• Read, understand, and follow each individual’s Individual Support Plan.
• Report updates, progress, and concerns to the IDD Program Specialist.
• Assist with daily living activities such as cooking, cleaning, grooming, hygiene, and transportation.
• Encourage participation in shopping, social events, appointments, and other community activities.
• Support individuals as they work toward personal goals and greater independence.
• Promote personal choice, self-advocacy, dignity, and respect.
• Document services, activities, and progress accurately.
• Communicate with team members to provide consistent, high-quality support.
