Job summary

KAHAK NJ INC. is seeking compassionate Direct Support Professionals to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities in Cumberland County, NJ. The role focuses on fostering independence, life skills, and participation in community activities.

You will support ADLs, accompany individuals to appointments, and help build skills in budgeting, transportation, and social interaction, while documenting ISP outcomes and reporting concerns to a supervisor.

Qualifications

CPR/First Aid certification required.
Authorization to work in the U.S.
Background check clearance.
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum 1 year healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

Assist individuals with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as grooming, cooking, cleaning, and personal hygiene.
Support participation in community activities and recreation.
Accompany individuals to appointments, shopping, or social outings as needed.
Encourage skill-building for community engagement (money management, transportation, social interaction).
Implement and document individualized support plans and ISP outcomes.
Teach and reinforce independence skills (cooking, budgeting, personal safety).
Support communication and self-advocacy efforts.
Report incidents or changes to the supervisor promptly.
