Job summary

WeAchieve is seeking a compassionate Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide individualized, person-centered support to an adult in Rockville, MD. The role involves helping with daily activities, preparing snacks/meals, and engaging with the community to foster independence.

The ideal candidate focuses on empowering the individual to participate, make choices, and build greater independence while maintaining safety and the person-centered plan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid Non-Provisional Driver’s License.
• Fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
• Previous caregiving experience is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individualized, hands-on support with daily activities and routines.
• Encourage and assist with participation in preparing snacks and meals.
• Identify and utilize community resources, programs, and activities for enrichment, engagement, and social participation.
• Plan and support community outings based on the individual's interests and preferences.
• Engage the individual in preferred indoor leisure and recreational activities.
• Encourage healthy, active, and engaging activities when appropriate.
• Promote independence by enabling the individual to make choices and participate in activities.
• Provide patient, attentive, and consistent support during each shift.
• Maintain awareness of the individual's surroundings, needs, and safety.
• Follow the individual's person-centered plan and WeAchieve policies.
