Job summary

Redwood Family Care Network in Orange, CA is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for part-time shifts in the Orange area. The role offers an hourly rate of $18.00–$20.00 with a $500 sign-on bonus, and requires availability for in-person orientation in Santa Ana, CA.

As a DSP, you will assist adults with developmental disabilities with daily living activities, meal prep, hygiene, and transportation needs.

Qualifications

• 1 year experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, crisis management, behavior management, and ABA.
• Must be 21 years or older and have a CA driver’s license.
• Background check and pre-employment requirements completed.

Responsibilities

• Assist adults with daily living activities including meals, hygiene, and grooming.
• Outline and implement daily routines per IPP/ISP goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe environment and encourage socialization.
• Transport clients as needed and report incidents to administrators.
• Support residents in visiting family and engaging in activities.

Here's What You'll Do:

Assist adults with physical and developmental disabilities in their daily lives. Assist with complete care of dietary, hygiene, bathing, grooming and dressing needs, including assisting with restroom and other activities of daily living (ADLs).

Essential Functions

• Outline and prepare daily routine(s) for clients (visual and active) as written in the Individual Program Plan.
• Support the needs and goals of each resident by participating in the development of IPP/ISP goals.
• Maintain a clean, safe and healthy environment for the clients.
• Support the needs and goals of each resident by taking them to visit family and friends, to preferred leisure/recreation activities, and encouraging them to socialize among peers.
• Assist clients with personal care such as grooming, bathroom needs, changing clients' undergarments and/or clothing if needed.
• Prepare daily meals and assist with clean-up.
• May need to transport clients in a personal vehicle and be reimbursed for mileage.
• Report any incidents or problems and communicate daily with administrators.
• Perform other duties assigned

Education and Experience:

• 1 year experience supporting adults with developmental disabilities, crisis management, behavior management, and ABA.
• High School Diploma/GED
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a California Driver’s License.
• Candidates must successfully pass all pre-employment requirements, including but not limited to a background check.
• CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) (Preferred or willing to obtain within the first 6 months of hire).
• Must have First Aid / CPR.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Able to work both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
