Job summary

Community Services Group is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in New York to build relationships with adults with IDD and assist with daily living. You will work in home, work, and community settings, promoting independence and well‑being.

Responsibilities include life-skills coaching, documentation, and collaboration with families and providers. On-site staff offer personalized care and supervision, with two‑week paid orientation in Mountville.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to transport individuals.
• Willing and able to travel to assigned community homes.
• Ability to work flexible hours.

Summary:

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you build relationships with and assist adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities at home, work, and in the community. DSPs assist with daily living tasks like cooking, cleaning, bathing, and dressing, as well as communication skills and employment. Duties are tailored to each individual's needs to promote overall well-being.

In this role within our Adult IDD Community Home Services, you will collaborate with a team to staff and support a group of community homes.

Our IDD Community Home Services support individuals with diverse needs, including complex medical care, to live fully in their community. On-site staff offer personalized care and supervision, empowering residents to grow safely at home. In partnership with families and providers, we assist individuals in setting and achieving fulfilling goals.

Schedules: Full-Time, Part-Time & Flexible schedules - All shifts including weekend hours.

CSG's IDD Services provides a 2-week paid, in-person orientation in Mountville to give you foundational training for a successful career, complete with mileage reimbursement.

Wage Information:

Base rate of pay $17/hr. with the potential to earn up to $21/hr. depending on location and shift.

Job Description:

• Develop relationships where those we support live, work, or in a community setting, in order to promote and ensure their emotional, physical and personal well-being.

• Assist adults in the development of appropriate life skills necessary to reach their highest level of potential including interaction with others, cooking, housekeeping, money management, personal hygiene, and other skills in appropriate settings.

• Support the individuals' preferences and ensure their interests are honored.

• Actively search for opportunities for those you serve to experience life in their homes and communities based on their hobbies and interests utilizing community resources to promote community integration, independence, and Interdependence.

• Help individuals reach their goals to be more independent by offering guidance, instruction, and role modeling.

• Completes all required documentation including electronic health record in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.

• Collaborates and cooperates with involved agencies, family members, and other service providers; participates in meetings and provides relevant information.

• Provides support and assistance to individuals in arranging for medical care when responsible to do so and follow health care recommendations including individuals to follow all dietary guidelines as recommended.

• Conducts fire drills, manages emergency situations during assigned work shifts, and provides coverage in emergency situations.

Qualifications:

• Must be 18 or older.

• Willing to assist and support individuals in the community while respecting their dignity and rights.

• Valid driver's license and willingness to transport individuals in personal or CSG vehicles.

• Willing and able to travel to and work in assigned community homes.

• Ability to work flexible hours.
