Job Overview

We are hiring for the role of Direct Support Professional (DSP), full time on a regular schedule. The DSP supports individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, mental health and substance use challenges in homes and communities.

Schedule: Mon‑Fri 7:00AM–3:00PM and 3:00PM–11:00PM; weekend shifts also available. Pay: $18 per hour. Sign‑on bonus: $1,000 for full‑time employees during the first year.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist clients in identifying and communicating their requests and needs for services and support.
  • Promote a healthy lifestyle through wellness education and accident‑prevention strategies.
  • Foster self‑advocacy and support decision‑making aligned with personal goals.
  • Accompany clients to community activities (work, movies, concerts, shopping, etc.) to promote social engagement.
  • Teach and support independent living skills to enhance self‑sufficiency.
  • Provide safe, reliable transportation to appointments and community engagements.
  • Manage personal care tasks such as bathing, hygiene, laundry, cleaning, and decorating.
  • Document all services for accurate records and team communication.
  • Advocate and connect clients to resources for career exploration, education, volunteerism, and personal growth.
  • Administer medication when permitted by state regulations, following safety and procedural guidelines.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal information and uphold all legal and ethical standards.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to improve service quality.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Minimum of 6 months experience in mental health or a related field, or 12 semester hours of college training in a mental health related field.
  • Pass all pre‑employment screenings (criminal background, drug testing, education verification, employment history).
Physical Demands and Work Environment

Regularly required to lift 30lbs. Must be able to lift a minimum of 40lbs, pull a minimum of 25lbs, squat, kneel, crawl, crouch, climb, and stoop. Must regularly use hands for handling objects, and stand and walk. Must demonstrate CPR proficiency in hand‑on‑hand scenarios. Vision requirements include close, distance, and peripheral vision.
