Job summary

Easterseals PORT Health in Wilmington, NC seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to assist individuals with IDD in daily living tasks at home and in the community. You will provide compassionate support, handle housekeeping, meals, personal care, and transportation when needed, while maintaining accurate documentation in our health records.

Entry-level applicants are welcome; a high school diploma or GED is required.

Qualifications

• Entry-level, on-the-job training provided.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Knowledge of basic housekeeping, basic nutrition, and safety protocols.
• Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail and dependability.
• Proficiency with EHR systems or ability to learn quickly.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license and auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Provide care in the home of the individual and in the community.
• Assist with housekeeping, meals, personal care and safety tasks.
• Transport the client to appointments and run errands as needed.
• Help plan and organize the client's schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health record.

As a Direct Support Professional (DSP), you’ll play a critical role in carrying out that mission by helping people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) complete everyday living tasks and achieve their goals.

Position Details

Position details: Monday - Friday, various hours and shifts available.

Location: Wilmington, NC (Ogden/Porter's Neck) and surrounding areas with local community travel.

Your Role in Our Mission

• You will provide care in the home of the individual and the community they live in.
• Assist with everyday tasks such as housekeeping, meal preparation, cooking, and cleaning; personal care such as bathing and dressing, toiletry and changing diapers; as well as employment support.
• You may transport the client to appointments and run errands.
• Help plan and organize their schedule.
• Daily documentation and reporting in the electronic health system of record.
