Job summary

Dungarvin is seeking a Direct Support Professional to provide compassionate, person-centered supports to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. You will assist with daily living activities, promote independence, and help people live as independently as possible.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 18 or older
  • Valid drivers license and proof of auto insurance
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Willingness to assist individuals with personal cares and activities of daily living (ADLs)
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, or squat for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Experience or interest in direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with potential behavioral support needs
  • Assist with activities of daily living, household tasks, meal preparation, budgeting, appointments, and community activities
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment
  • Promote independence, personal choice, and life skills development
  • Support individuals in achieving ISPs and document progress accordingly
  • Observe and communicate changes, concerns, and progress to supervisors and team members
  • Transport individuals to appointments and community outings as needed
  • Complete accurate and timely electronic documentation in accordance with program requirements

Job Description
  • Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with potential behavioral support needs.
  • Assist with activities of daily living, household cleaning, meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, personal goals, appointments, community activities, and engagement.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
  • Promote independence, personal choice, and life skills development.
  • Support individuals in achieving goals and objectives outlined in their Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and document progress accordingly.
  • Observe and communicate changes, concerns, and progress to supervisors and team members.
  • Transport individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings as needed.
  • Complete accurate and timely electronic documentation in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.
