Job summary

Dungarvin seeks a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide compassionate, person-centered supports to individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities and other needs. You will work closely with clients, assist with daily activities, and help maintain a safe, supportive home environment.

This role emphasizes independence, teamwork, and documenting progress in ISPs, with training provided and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 years.
• Valid driver's license and auto insurance where required.
• Basic reading and writing in English.
• Willingness to assist with ADLs.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to individuals with IDD and other needs.
• Assist with daily living activities, mobility, and schedules.
• Maintain a clean, safe living environment.
• Promote independence and life skills.
• Support ISPs and document progress.
• Observe changes and communicate with supervisors.
• Transport clients to appointments and activities as needed.
• Complete accurate electronic documentation per requirements.

Job Description

• Provide direct support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, including those with potential behavioral support needs.
• Assist with activities of daily living, household cleaning, meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, personal goals, appointments, community activities, and engagement.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
• Promote independence, personal choice, and life skills development.
• Support individuals in achieving goals and objectives outlined in their Individual Service Plans (ISPs) and document progress accordingly.
• Observe and communicate changes, concerns, and progress to supervisors and team members.
• Transport individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings as needed.
• Complete accurate and timely electronic documentation in accordance with program and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

Required (Must-Have)

• Minimum of 18 years of age
• Valid driver's license and proof of auto insurance
• Basic computer skills for documentation and communication
• Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
• Willingness to assist individuals with personal cares and activities of daily living (ADLs)

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, or squat for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

• Experience, training, or transferable skills that support success in a direct support role
• Strong teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Genuine interest in supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities
