Job description

Our client is seeking motivated professionals to work as Direct Support Professionals in the Fredericksburg, King George, Stafford, and Spotsylvania areas.

Summary of client's description of opportunity

1. Dispense and record resident medications.
2. Record residents' progress notes and communicate residents' behavior to relieving staff members.
3. Provide supportive level counseling and refer problems to appropriate staff members as required.
4. Greet visitors and supervise visitation to the facility.
5. Provide timely and accurate documentation of Individual Service Plans, telephone contacts, funding requirements.
6. Perform supportive and administrative tasks including cooking meals, kitchen clean-up, running errands for residents, picking up supplies and medications, and assisting with daily facility clean-up.

Required experience and education

1. Considerable knowledge of practices and methods related to instructing intellectually disabled adults, including behavior management, independent living skills training, and supportive counseling; also knowledge of human rights of individuals.
2. Minimum of 1-2 years experience working with persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
3. Valid Driver's License.
4. Ability to complete and pass clearances: FBI, Child Abuse (ACT 126), and Criminal background checks.
5. Current medical/health documents including physical examination, Tuberculosis/TB Skin Test, CPR, and First Aid certification.
6. Experience in community-based residential programs is preferred.
7. Persons with experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP), Residential Aide, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Home Health Aide (HHA), Personal Care Assistant (PCA), Caregiver, or Patient Care Technician (PCT) are encouraged to apply.
