Job summary

Services for the UnderServed (S:US) is seeking Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in New York City. This role involves supporting individuals with intellectual/developmental disabilities, providing skill development through community and classroom experiences. Candidates must have at least a high school diploma and experience in direct care services. S:US offers flexible scheduling and comprehensive benefits, fostering an inclusive culture focused on respect and individual growth. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required. Associates Degree preferred.
• At least one year experience providing direct care services to adults with a developmental disability.
• Valid NYS Driver’s license and must be able to pass insurance criteria.

Responsibilities

• Assists each consumer in skill development in areas such as independent living.
• Supervises consumers in the community, ensuring their safety.
• Leads group sessions with consumers to provide learning skills.
• Provides annual and semi-annual progress reports regarding valued outcomes.
• Assesses needs of lower functioning/non-verbal consumers.
• Documents outcomes in accordance with each individual’s Day Habilitation Plan.

This opportunity is available at our program located on Lefferts Blvd in South Ozone Park, NY so you can work close to home.

Day Habilitation Specialist provides individuals with developmental disabilities with skill development through a combination of community & classroom learning experiences.

Responsibilities

• Assists each consumer in skill development in areas such as independent living, adaptive behaviors, socialization, recreation and activities of daily living.
• Supervises consumers in the community, using various experiences to reinforce skills being taught in group session while ensuring their safety.
• Leads group sessions with consumers and facilitates the discussions to provide learning skills to be used in their community.
• Provides annual and semi-annual progress reports regarding valued outcomes.
• Assesses the needs of lower functioning and/or non-verbal consumers through observations and evaluations; their valued outcomes will be developed and addressed.
• Provides input and ensures compliance with the valued outcomes in the ISP and Day Habilitation Plan.
• Provides weekly documentation of outcomes being worked towards with each individual in accordance with his/her Day Habilitation Plan.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required. Associates Degree preferred.
• At least one year experience providing direct care services to adults with a developmental disability.
• AMAP certified, SCIP‑R trained, CPR & First Aid Trained
• Valid NYS Driver’s license and must be able to pass insurance criteria
