Role Description

The Direct Support Professional – DAY is a full-time, on-site role based in New Britain, CT. This role provides daily support to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, promoting independence, choice, and community inclusion. Responsibilities include assisting with personal care as needed, supporting individuals in daily living activities, and implementing person-centered plans and goals. The role involves facilitating community outings, recreational activities, and skill-building opportunities, while ensuring safety and adherence to agency policies. The Direct Support Professional documents services, communicates observations to supervisors and team members, and works collaboratively with families and colleagues to enhance each person’s quality of life.

Qualifications

• Candidates should possess skills and experience in Human Services and working with individuals with Intellectual Disabilities.
• Candidates should possess strong Interpersonal Skills and Communication abilities to engage respectfully with participants, families, and colleagues.
• Candidates should possess Training skills, including the ability to learn and follow behavior plans, support strategies, and safety procedures.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in human services or related fields is beneficial.
• Ability to provide respectful personal care, support daily living activities, and maintain professional boundaries.
• Reliable transportation to the New Britain, CT site and the ability to participate in community outings as needed.
• Willingness to complete agency-required training, including first aid/CPR and any mandated certifications.
• Ability to lift, bend, and assist with mobility support as required by program needs.
