The Association for Individual Development (AID) is a non-profit organization whose mission is to empower people with physical, developmental, intellectual, mental health challenges; those who have suffered a trauma; and those at risk, to enjoy lives of dignity and purpose. We are seeking a Direct Support Professional who aligns with this mission and wants to make a difference in the community.

Schedule Hours: Overnight Wednesday-Saturday 9pm-9am

What you will be doing

The DSP is responsible for implementing the client's Individualized Strategies, under the guidance of a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional. Responsibilities include documenting services such as recreation, leisure, and daily living activities, ensuring client rights, dignity, and privacy, and maintaining a safe environment. The role involves working with clients exhibiting maladaptive behaviors and providing intensive care as needed, including toileting, bathing, special diets, and enteral feeding. The DSP must be flexible to work across multiple sites based on program needs.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • CNA or Autism Certificate preferred
  • Experience with developmentally disabled adults preferred
Additional Requirements
  • Physical ability to climb stairs, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform daily housekeeping and caregiving tasks
  • Pass S-TOFHLA literacy test
  • Complete DSP and Medication Administration Training, including CPR, First Aid, Infection Control, OIG Rule 50, CPI
  • Maintain medication administration certification and complete additional on-the-job certifications as required
  • Availability for evening, weekend, overnight, and holiday shifts
  • Valid Illinois driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle with appropriate insurance
  • Use of a personal cell phone for secure messaging
  • Meet and maintain IDOT Approved Driver Status
  • Minimum age of 18 years
  • Willingness to attend scheduled trainings and work at various locations as needed
