The Direct Support Professional provides direct care and support to adults participating in the Adult Day Service program, helping individuals with intellectual, developmental, behavioral, and mental health needs develop the skills necessary to achieve greater independence and actively participate in their communities. This role is responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of participants, assisting with activities of daily living, implementing individualized treatment plans, facilitating therapeutic and recreational activities, and maintaining a structured, supportive environment that promotes personal growth and positive outcomes.
The Direct Support Professional plays a key role in promoting independence, utilizing positive behavior supports, and providing compassionate, person-centered care while ensuring compliance with agency policies and individualized treatment plans. In addition to assisting with medication administration (when certified), documentation, behavioral interventions, and community-based activities, the Direct Support Professional works collaboratively with participants, families, and the interdisciplinary treatment team to enhance quality of life, encourage community inclusion, and help individuals achieve their personal goals.
