Job summary

Valley Behavioral Health Incorporated's Adult Ability Center is seeking Direct Support Professionals to help adults with autism and developmental disabilities grow independence and confidence through person-centered, respectful support.

You will empower individuals to achieve personal goals, learn life skills, and build meaningful connections in a supportive environment.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • No experience required; CPR certification may be required post-hire.
  • Valley de-escalation certification as required.

Responsibilities

  • Understand individuals' strengths, interests, and aspirations to set meaningful goals.
  • Use creativity and coaching to teach life skills, social skills, and workplace readiness.
  • Teach job readiness and workplace skills through hands-on learning and positive reinforcement.
  • Assist with daily living activities and build independent self-care routines.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality support.

Our Direct Support Professionals help adults with autism and intellectual/developmental disabilities build independence, confidence, coping skills, friendships, and meaningful life experiences. This is more than a caregiving role — it’s a chance to build relationships, create fun and engaging experiences, and support people in reaching their personal goals in ways that are person-centered, respectful, and empowering.

Pay:

Range starts at $17.00/hour (pay is calculated based on years of related experience)

  • Quarterly Bonus Opportunity: Eligible employees receive quarterly bonuses based on program service delivery
Schedule:

Monday - Friday | 8:30am - 4:30pm

Depending on your medical plan selection, you may also contribute pre‑tax dollars to a Health Savings Account (HSA), with a company match of up to $900 for individuals and $1,800 for families.
  • Retirement Our 401(k) plan accepts both pre‑tax and Roth (post‑tax) contributions and includes a company match of up to 6% of your annual salary.

Essential Functions
  • Understand each individual’s strengths, interests, and aspirations, while working alongside them and their families to create meaningful goals for growth and lifelong learning.
  • Use creativity, encouragement, and hands‑on coaching to teach life skills, social skills, and workplace readiness.
  • Teach and encourage job readiness and workplace skills through hands‑on learning, coaching, and positive reinforcement.
  • Assist individuals with daily living activities, including personal care, hygiene, mealtime support, and building independent self‑care routines.
  • Collaborate with a caring, multidisciplinary team to provide high‑quality support and create positive outcomes for the people we serve.
Requirements

Education

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience

  • No experience required - see Preferred Qualifications

Licenses/Certifications

  • CPR certification (post hire if needed)
  • Valley de‑escalation certification (as required)
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience providing job coaching skills to adult clients with disabilities
  • Driving positions require a minimum age of 21 and a current driver’s license
