Job summary

First Step Healthcare is seeking a Direct Support Professional (DSP) for 2nd shift in Columbus, OH. This part-time role offers a set schedule: 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM on Sundays, Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, totaling 32 hours per week.

Responsibilities include personal care, medication administration under supervision, documentation, and transportation for community activities, while promoting health, wellness, and independence for clients with developmental disabilities.

Qualifications

• Med Cert 1 with a current number and ability to pass meds
• Current CPR and First Aid certifications
• Completion of the 8-hour DODD Direct Support Professional training
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license with clean record
• Clean background check is required
• Ability to independently lift up to 50 lbs
• Continued education: annual DODD 8-hour training and recertification

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care support including hygiene, ambulation, and routines
• Perform housekeeping tasks: cooking, cleaning, laundry, dishes, errands
• Offer companionship and supportive presence during needs
• Administer health-related tasks such as medications under direction
• Plan, shop for, and prepare nutritious meals
• Transport clients to appointments and community activities
• Coach clients on hygiene, cleanliness, nutrition, and daily living skills
• Maintain accurate EVV clock-in/clock-out for each shift
• Prepare and update service documentation and progress notes
• Meet weekly reporting on client goals and well-being
• Handle additional duties as assigned

Position

Direct Support Professional (DSP) — Part-Time, Set Schedule

Shift: 2nd Shift, 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM
Days: Sunday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday
Hours: 32 hours per week — off Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday
Location: Columbus, OH 43219 (near John Glenn Columbus International Airport)

Additional PRN hours may be available for team members who want them.

Requirements (Must Have)

• Medication Administration Certification (Med Cert 1) — must have a current Med Cert number and be able to pass meds
• Current CPR & First Aid certification
• Completion of the initial DODD 8-hour Direct Support Professional training
• Reliable transportation
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Clean background check
• Ability to independently lift up to 50 lbs
• Continued Education: Completion of state-mandated DODD 8-hour annual training and re-certification

• Complete accurate electronic visit verification (EVV) clock-in and clock-out for every shift.
• Prepare and maintain accurate service documentation and progress notes.
• Meet weekly reporting compliance on client goals, health, and well-being.
• Additional duties as assigned.
