Job summary

YAI is hiring Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities across homes and community settings in New York. The role includes flexible schedules and opportunities to work mornings, evenings, or overnights.

Applicants should have a High School Diploma or GED; I/DD experience is a plus. TB testing is provided through a partner. YAI emphasizes equal opportunity employment.

Qualifications

• Ability to complete three to five weekdays of paid OPWDD training during normal business hours.
• Tuberculosis (TB) testing is mandatory for most positions (and is provided free of charge).

About the Position

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work closely with people of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). Depending on the supports needed, DSPs may work in a person’s home, in their family’s home, in a YAI residence, at a day habilitation center, or out in the community.

Qualifications And Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus but not mandatory
• Ability to complete three to five weekdays of paid New York State-mandated OPWDD training during normal business hours
• Tuberculosis (TB) testing is mandatory for most positions (and is provided free of charge by our partnership with CityMD)

Schedule

• Full time weekday and weekend positions are available including 40‑hour morning, evening, and overnight schedules.

Compensation

• $15.00/hour to $16.50/hour
