Job summary

YAI is hiring Direct Support Professionals for Residential Services in Queens. The DSP will provide direct care across ADLs, health, and wellness support, helping individuals with I/DD to live, love, work, and learn in their communities.

Position involves various settings including homes, day habilitation, or community activities. Ongoing trainings and compliance documentation are required, with opportunities for growth within a mission-driven organization dedicated to inclusion.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• DSP experience in I/DD is a plus (DSP 2 requires 3 years).
• Valid NY State Driver’s License may be required depending on position.
• Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care services including ADLs, medical, dietary, social, and recreational support.
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of individuals.
• Support with intimate care functions.
• Build and maintain positive relationships.
• Contribute to treatment plan development and crisis intervention.
• Complete mandatory trainings (AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving, etc.).
• Meet and model OPWDD Core Competencies.
• Assist individuals in maximizing strengths and community integration.
• Complete documentation for compliance and billing.
• Train and present to a team.
• Take on additional tasks as needed.

Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) work closely with people of all ages who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD).Depending on the supports needed, DSPs may work in a person’s home, in their family’s home, in a YAI residence, at a day habilitation center, or out in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• To provide direct care services as needed. This includes, but is not limited to, the provision of counseling, training in ADLs (Assisted Daily Living skills), assistance with personal care, medical, dietary, social, sexual, recreational, financial, habilitative and other needs within the program.
• Ensure the health, safety, and wellness of the people we support.

• Completing mandatorytrainings based on the programandposition(AMAP, CPR/First Aid, SCIP-R, Defensive Driving,etc.), as well as applying skills.

• Takingon additional tasks outside of basic DSP work/completingjob related tasks as needed.

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Work or life experience in the I/DD field is a plus, but not mandatory (for DSP 1 positions).For DSP 2 positions, at least three years of Direct Support Professional experience in the I/DD field.
• Valid NY StateDriver’s Licensemay be required depending uponthe position.
• Tuberculosis test is mandatory for most positions.

Sunday-Thursday 3p-11p

Compensation:
