Job summary

Southwest Behavioral Care, Inc. seeks a part-time housing support staff member in Belle Vernon, PA. Primary duties include assisting residents with crisis plans, facilitating activities, meal prep, and transportation to appointments.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Ability to understand and communicate information effectively.
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License with safe driving record.
  • Must use electronic medical records.
  • Must obtain clearances: CHRI, Child Abuse, FBI fingerprints.
  • Must not be excluded from Medicare/Medicaid programs; able to transport individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on instruction to residents to implement crisis plans.
  • Support residents in the Specialized Residential Unit II.
  • Facilitate recreational and social activities for residents.
  • Assist in meal preparation for unit residents.
  • Provide transportation to medical appointments when needed.
  • Attend staff meetings/trainings to improve crisis-handling skills.
  • Maintain safety, cleanliness, and proper documentation of assistance.
  • Adhere to policies, laws, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Overall Function

Maintains the general safety, security of consumers in crisis and aids consumers with the implementation of their individualized service plans.

Essential Functions
  • Provides hands‑on instruction to residents to implement crisis plans and assist with crisis resolution.
  • As a member of the housing support team, provides hands‑on support and assistance to Specialized Residential Unit II residents.
  • Conducts recreational and social activities with residents, as assigned.
  • Assists in meal preparation for the Specialized Residential Unit II residents.
  • Provides transportation to medical appointments as necessary.
  • Participates in regular staff meetings and trainings to develop basic knowledge and skills to assist residents in crisis resolution and support job performance.
  • Maintains proper condition, cleanliness, and safety of the Specialized Residential Unit II, and responds appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Maintains proper documentation of all assistance and support provided to each resident.
  • Adheres to all policies, laws, regulations and codes of ethics and confidentiality as outlined by federal and state laws and agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma, GED or an equivalent combination of skills, experience and education may be considered at the discretion of the Agency.
  • Ability to receive, understand and communicate information with effectiveness and follow instructions.
  • Must have a valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License and a safe driving record.
  • Must have ability to utilize electronic medical records.
  • Must successfully obtain Criminal History Clearance from the PA State Police, Child Abuse Clearance from the PA Department of Human Services and FBI Fingerprint Clearance.
  • Must not be excluded from Medicare, Medicaid, or any other federal health care program. Ability to transport oneself and/or individuals in an insured vehicle, as program needs dictate.
  • Ability to safely operate a variety of agency vehicles.
  • Ability to assist, move and/or transfer clients weighing up to 150 pounds, may be required.
  • Ability to assist, move and/or transfer program equipment and supplies weighing up to 30 pounds.
